The issue dominated discussion at the Village of Theresa Finance Committee of the Whole meeting held Monday, Nov. 3. Committee members reviewed operational challenges facing Theresa Ambulance Services, including staffing levels, rising costs, and sustainability in a changing emergency services landscape.
Officials noted that volunteer recruitment and retention remain ongoing challenges, a concern shared by many rural ambulance providers across Wisconsin. Increasing call volumes, training requirements, and financial pressures have made it more difficult for small communities to maintain independent ambulance services.
During the meeting, committee members discussed the possibility that an upcoming meeting could play a key role in determining the future direction of ambulance services in Theresa. Options may include continued independent operation, restructuring service models, or exploring partnerships with neighboring communities or private providers.
Village leaders emphasized that no decisions have been made and that public safety remains the top priority. Any potential changes would involve further discussion, detailed analysis, and input from residents and emergency service professionals.
Officials said additional meetings are expected as the village gathers more information and evaluates possible paths forward. Residents are encouraged to attend future meetings to stay informed and share feedback as conversations about the future of Theresa’s ambulance services continue.
