During the hearing, Ben Andrews, Community Development Administrator with MSA Professional Services, presented an overview of the Community Development Block Grant – Public Facilities (CDBG-PF) program and how it could benefit the Village of Lomira.
Andrews explained that the CDBG-PF program is designed to assist communities with infrastructure and public facility improvements that primarily benefit low- to moderate-income residents. Eligible projects can include upgrades to utilities, streets, sidewalks, and other essential public infrastructure.
The presentation also covered the South Central Wisconsin region’s role in administering and coordinating the grant process, outlining application requirements, timelines, and evaluation criteria. Andrews emphasized the importance of demonstrating community need and public support when pursuing CDBG funding.
Village officials noted that the public hearing is a required step in the application process and provides residents an opportunity to ask questions and offer input. No final decisions were made during the meeting, but board members said the information will help guide whether Lomira moves forward with a formal application.
Community members in attendance were encouraged to share feedback as planning continues. Village leaders said additional discussion and possible action related to the CDBG-PF program may take place at future meetings.
