Lions Club members recently conducted vision screenings for children in the Village of Theresa, continuing a long-standing Lions tradition focused on preventing vision problems and supporting early detection. Club members say eyesight is one of the most important tools for learning and development, making early screening a critical step for student success.
Using specialized screening equipment, volunteers were able to quickly and noninvasively assess children’s vision. The process helps identify potential issues such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or eye alignment concerns that may otherwise go unnoticed. Families are then encouraged to seek follow-up care with an eye care professional if needed.
Lions Club members noted that many vision issues can be corrected easily when detected early, but untreated problems can interfere with learning, reading, and overall confidence. By offering screenings at no cost, the club helps remove barriers that might prevent families from accessing care.
The vision screenings are part of the Lions Club’s broader mission to serve the community through health-focused initiatives, youth programs, and service projects. Vision care has long been a cornerstone of Lions Club efforts worldwide.
Parents, educators, and community members expressed appreciation for the program, recognizing its role in supporting children’s well-being and academic success. Lions Club representatives said they are proud to continue serving local families and look forward to offering similar programs in the future.
