The grant was awarded on May 6, 2025, as part of BDACF’s mission to strengthen local nonprofits that enrich communities throughout the Beaver Dam area and surrounding regions. Funds will help the Friends organization continue its work supporting the Horicon Marsh International Education Center, one of Wisconsin’s premier environmental education destinations.
The Friends of Horicon Marsh play a key role in enhancing visitor experiences through educational exhibits, youth programming, special events, and volunteer support. Their efforts help connect people of all ages with the ecological importance of Horicon Marsh, the largest freshwater cattail marsh in the United States.
Foundation representatives said the grant reflects the organization’s commitment to conservation education and community engagement. By supporting the Education Center, BDACF aims to help foster environmental awareness and stewardship across the region.
Leaders with the Friends group expressed appreciation for the funding, noting that community support is essential to maintaining high-quality educational opportunities and expanding outreach to schools, families, and visitors.
The grant will assist with program materials and resources, helping ensure that the Horicon Marsh International Education Center continues to serve as a hub for learning, conservation, and appreciation of Wisconsin’s natural heritage.
