During a recent Village Board meeting, the village’s grant writer Tammy Hampton, of Kunkel Engineering, presented information on possible state and federal funding sources for the planned 2027 reconstruction of Highway 175, also known locally as Milwaukee Street.
Hampton outlined several grant programs that could help offset project costs, emphasizing the importance of early preparation and coordination with state agencies. The Highway 175 corridor is a key route through the village, and improvements are expected to address long-term infrastructure needs, safety concerns, and roadway condition.
Village officials discussed how securing outside funding could significantly reduce the local financial burden of the project. Board members noted that understanding eligibility requirements and application timelines well in advance will be critical to maximizing available assistance.
The presentation focused on identifying funding strategies rather than making immediate decisions. Any grant applications or project commitments would require additional review and formal approval by the Village Board as planning progresses.
Village leaders said they will continue working with Kunkel Engineering to refine project details and pursue funding opportunities as the 2027 timeline approaches. Additional updates are expected to be shared with residents as more information becomes available.
