Mayville football was represented on the statewide stage this summer as Joren Schlender was selected to compete in the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) All-Star Game, a prestigious honor recognizing the top senior players from across the state.

For Schlender, the all-star selection marked the culmination of a football journey that began at a young age and steadily grew into a defining part of his high school experience.

“I started playing football in second grade with the Mayville Recreation Department, providing a flag football league that allowed me to compete with and against all of my friends,” Schlender said. “I’ll never forget getting coached by some of the members of the high school football team. I looked forward to one day getting to play in high school, and the flag football league ultimately helped develop my love for football.”

That early passion carried Schlender through his years with the Cardinals, where he became a key contributor and respected leader. Known for his work ethic and commitment, Schlender played an important role in Mayville’s program, earning the respect of teammates and coaches alike.
