The Farmington Historical Society hosted an Oktoberfest event at Saxonia House on Saturday, Sept. 19. Despite gloomy weather, visitors continued to turn out for the event and to learn about the history of the historic home.
Saxonia House has a significant connection to the area's German heritage and early settlement. The property provides a look at the people, traditions and architecture that helped shape the communities surrounding Campbellsport and Farmington.
Members of the Farmington Historical Society were on hand during the celebration to share information about the building and local history. Historical materials and displays gave visitors an opportunity to explore stories from previous generations.
The event also highlighted the importance of preserving historic properties for future residents. Buildings such as Saxonia House provide a physical connection to the past and help illustrate how communities developed over time.
For the historical society, events such as Oktoberfest are also a way to bring people together while introducing younger generations to local history.
Visitors were able to enjoy the atmosphere of the celebration while learning about the property's background and the families and communities associated with it.
The gathering demonstrated how historical organizations can combine education and community events to keep local stories alive.
Saxonia House continues to serve as an important piece of the area's history, and the Oktoberfest event provided another opportunity for residents to experience the property while learning more about its place in Wisconsin's past.
