Horicon opened the week at the Division 3 Regional on Tuesday, May 27, where the girls’ squad put together one of its strongest performances of the season. The team advanced seven entries to the sectional round, showcasing depth across multiple events and setting the tone for a busy and successful week.
At sectionals, Hodgson emerged as the program’s standout performer. She secured her spot at state in the discus, rising to the occasion against top-tier competition and delivering a throw that ranked among the best in the field. Her qualification marked a major milestone, both individually and for the Horicon program.
In addition to Hodgson’s achievement, several Lions turned in strong efforts at sectionals, narrowly missing advancement while posting season-best marks. Those performances underscored the team’s steady improvement and competitiveness as the postseason progressed.
With Hodgson advancing to the state meet, Horicon will have representation on Wisconsin’s biggest high school track and field stage. Her run to state caps a successful postseason for the Lions and serves as a reward for a season defined by hard work, consistency, and growth.
