Di Bushkie, a director with the Horicon Marshmen Foundation, established the scholarship in memory of her late husband with the goal of supporting students from Horicon High School as they pursue their educational goals after graduation. The award is formally known as the Mike Bushkie Memorial Scholarship.
The Bushkie family also presented a $1,000 scholarship as part of the initiative, marking the first award under the memorial fund. Foundation leaders said the scholarship reflects Mike Bushkie’s dedication to education, community involvement, and the success of local students.
“This scholarship is a way to honor Mike’s commitment to young people and to give back to the community he cared deeply about,” foundation representatives said. “We are grateful to the Bushkie family for their generosity and vision.”
The Horicon Marshmen Foundation supports students and school programs through scholarships, grants, and community partnerships. Officials noted that memorial scholarships like the Mike Bushkie award help strengthen long-term opportunities for students while preserving the stories and values of community members.
Foundation leaders said the scholarship fund is expected to continue in future years, providing ongoing support to Horicon students and ensuring that Mike Bushkie’s legacy lives on through education.
